Hello!I've just purchased a Onkyo TX-SR508 as part of the Onkyo hts6305 package from Richer Sounds.Really happy with the amp - sounds fantastic and having none of the issues reported on these forums and elsewhere regarding reversed surrounds, clicking subwoofer, picture noise etc. But I'm having issues with sound through digital optical with both SKY HD and a HD DVD player.I've assigned optical to the correct HDMI input, then pressed the audio button to make sure optical takes priority over HDMI, but I'm getting no sound whatsoever through optical - tried both optical input 1 and 2 and changing which input they are assigned to, but no luckI've tried with both Sky HD and a Tosh Hdep10 HD-DVD player.Faulty Amp?Slightly paranoid about taking it back as I don't want to end up with an unit that has the other faults mentioned above.Help! Ended up returning it to RS - had it just over 1 week. The subwoofer included in the package went belly-up along with the ipod docking station. The sub - which goes into auto standby after a period of no lfe input, started behaving very strange. Was watching Sky where there was barely any bass and it tried to power itself down, but would seem it was unable to do so and started clicking - around 20 times - until it eventually popped and went into standby.
Tried watching a movie this morning and the sub 'woke' from standby, but was getting no bass whatsoever.Ipod Dock - which worked perfectly with my wifes iPhone until yesterday evening when the sound cut out a couple of times while listening to music. Then trying to connect today whenever I tried to access the 'iPod' app a message came up with 'ipod accessory connected' message on iphone, but simply wouldn't work. Then messages such as 'accesory not compatible with iphone' started appearing on the phone. Tried unplugging amp from wall and rebooted iphone, but same issues. The A/V Receiver - Optical cables over 1m long simply wouldn't work - I tried 3 different cables. Not a good experience - RS assistant said it was a case of incredible bad luck, but it's seriously knocked my confidence when it comes to Onkyo products.Looks like it's back to shopping around again and getting stuck in with more research:-(.

Great home theater doesn't have to break the bank. Onkyo's TX-SR307 proves the point. This 5.1 channel receiver comes with Dolby Digital and DTS decoding for audio that sounds more like what the producers had in mind. The Audyssey DynamicEQ ensures that you get clear dialogue by dynamically.
